53113 Bonn, GermanyI have been engaged in tourism research and teaching for the last 10 years in New Zealand, Vanuatu, Philippines and Europe. I am originally from Berlin in Germany and always had a passion for travelling. For many years, I travelled to many different countries, while studying Geography and working for various consulting agencies in regional and urban planning.
In 1997, I decided to live in New Zealand where I was awarded a scholarship to complete my PhD in Tourism Management at Victoria University of Wellington. My PhD research was concerned with tourism, stakeholders, participatory Geographical Information Systems and sustainable community development in Marahau/Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand. I designed a tool to better facilitate the interaction between multiple stakeholders, it is called the ‘Participatory Geographical Information System’ (PAGIS).
After returning to Europe, Firstly I was engaged in teaching and research in tourism and leisure management at the Bristol Business School – University of the West of England. I then finally returned to Germany in 2002, where I am now teaching tourism management at various Universities and work as a tourism consultant in Bonn
