I am currently with the Tourism Studies Programme at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji, satisfying a long held interest in international development and developing countries. My academic background is in human geography and development studies, interests which later came to include the study of tourism as an agent of development in both local and global contexts (MA and PhD.).

Prior to an academic career I have worked as a travel writer and photographer in South East Asia, and have run a consultancy for the last ten years contracting mostly to Government agencies or NGOs in New Zealand on a range of tourism and development related topics. Now in Fiji, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to engage with the challenges facing tourism in its role as a significant agent of social and economic development for the South Pacific Region. Big challenges indeed!
