Biography

Tina Buch is a Research Officer at NZTRI. Tina joined the Institute in March 2005 as a Research Assistant while completing her Master’s degree at AUT. In May 2007, she joined the team of Research Officers. Over the past five years, Tina has been involved in a wide variety of projects and gained insights into all phases of the project life cycle. Tina has worked on/managed over 28 projects to date.

Tina’s primary research interests lie within the areas of events tourism and health & wellness tourism. She is interested in the relationships between events and the host community; social, cultural, environmental and economic impacts – with a particular interest in sporting events. Her master’s thesis focused on the social impacts of the 2006 Ironman New Zealand. Tina’s interest in the health and wellness tourism area is sparked by a general and keen interest in an active, healthy lifestyle and how this increasingly is manifested in the way that people travel – seeking enhanced overall wellbeing

Prior to moving to New Zealand, Tina also spent 5 years working for a ground handling agency in Copenhagen International Airport, Denmark which has provided her with a broader understanding of the travel and tourism industry.
