Mobile Interactive Visitor Information Service Trial at Mt Bruce

The MIVIS technology is designed to enhance visitor experience as they travel around NZ by allowing information to be accessed on the visitor’s own phone in their own language. This research reviews the outcomes of a pilot of the MIVIS software and technology at the Pukaha Mount Bruce Wildlife Sanctuary. The focus of the survey was to explore four core areas: basic characteristics of visitors; use of general ICT; specific user experience of MIVIS technologies; and impact of MIVIS use on conservation attitudes.

Atlantic Canada Tourism Research: Analysis of the effectiveness and performance of a web portal

NZTRI, in partnership with Intervale Consultants, were commissioned in April 2004 to provide an audit of the effectiveness and performance of the Atlantic Outdoor Adventure Partnership Web - www.atlanticoutdoors.com. The Website is designed to promote soft adventure experiences and accommodation. The focus of the audit is on how well the website aligns with and satisfies both potential client and business member requirements.

Department of Labour’s Future of Work Research Programme 03-04

This research project was funded by the NZ Department of Labour’s Future of Work programme. It aims to create a better understanding of how information and communication technology adoption is influencing the demand for, and use of, labour in the accommodation sector, and how enterprise owners and managers feel about the training issues that stem from ICT influences.

Kiwitrails – FRST Maori Collectives Scheme

This year long FRST funded project focussed on enhancing the capabilities of www.kiwitrails.co.nz. KiwiTrails - a website promoting the East Cape region as a visitor destination, providing a support tool for small tourism operators, and representing a resource for local communities.
