Pascal Languillon

Pascal Languillon joined NZTRI in February 2010 as a PhD student. His PhD explores the influence of green marketing on the buying behaviour of travellers. The research will provide tourism marketing managers with insights into how to improve marketing techniques in order to attract eco-conscious travellers. Results will also be of interest to destination managers as they will provide an indication on how luxury hotels can improve their positive impacts on their environment and the surrounding communities by targeting affluent travellers prone to engage in philanthropic activities.
Pascal holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from the University of Auckland (2001-2003), where he specialized in ecotourism strategies at the macro level. Convinced that sound ecotourism can be part of the solution to protect, conserve, and restore nature while improving the quality of life of local communities, Pascal has worked on numerous ecotourism projects around the world as a consultant. Pascal is also the director and founder of the French Ecotourism Association and of www.voyagespourlaplanete.com, France’s leading responsible travel website. He recently authored sustainable travel guidebooks for Lonely Planet and for Le Guide du Routard, France’s leading guidebook editors. His new book, Ecochic, presents the best eco-luxury hotels in the world. Pascal also works as a Research Officer for the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute.
