EU Proinvest Profit in the Pacific Project
The Profit Pacific Proinvest Project is an initiative of the European Union to encourage and facilitate tourism investment in the South Pacific Islands. There were four areas of input for NZTRI during 2004/2005 (A and C completed in 2004; B and D completed in 2005):
A. Development and implementation of SME and public sector workshops to raise awareness of the ProfitPacific event and to assist SME in developing business proposals and cases to bring to the meeting. A series of workshops were conducted in the islands of Samoa (4), Tonga (2), Tuvalu (2) and Niue (4) during April/May and October/November 2004.
B. Production of country tourism investment reports for Tonga, Niue, Samoa and Tuvalu.
C. Proinvest “Profit in the Pacific” Database Compilation. NZTRI conducted internet based research and followed-up with e-mail communications in respect of the following countries: New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, US (West Coast) and Canada (BC).
D. Promoting the Proinvest Partnership investment Programme & Conference. Following on from the database compilation, NZTRI was then asked to promote the conference in New Zealand.
