Cumulative knowledge perspective on research findings and its implications
Abstract: This presentation gives Dr BeomCheol Peter Kim an opportunity to share his research interests, publication experiences and research perspective with both colleagues and postgraduate students in NZTRI/SHT. In this presentation, Peter will introduce his previous/current research projects either published or accepted for publication at referred journal outlets and discuss a strategic role of literature review and methodology in writing a research paper. The presentation will be closed by deliberating for the cumulative knowledge perspective recognizing that understanding of a phenomenon is developed across several studies.
Biography: Dr BeomCheol Peter Kim is a Lecturer in the School of Hospitality and Tourism at AUT University. Before joining AUT, Peter lectured various hospitality/tourism management papers such as Hospitality Human Resource Management, Intro to Service Management, Policy and Strategic Management, Travel/Tourism Management, and Field Study (i.e., Co-Op) in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech University where his Ph.D. was conferred. He also has a variety of hospitality work experiences from the entry-level to managerial-level at various hotel properties such as Park Hyatt, Sofitel, Marriott and Westin.
By quantitative research methods, Peter has examined hospitality/tourism organizations’ strategic decisions to deal with their workforces, organizational behaviors to ensure quality services which eventually affect firm performance (i.e., Strategic Human Resource Management), as well as customers’ responses to service expectations/experiences (i.e., Service Marketing). His previous works appeared at peer-reviewed journals such as Psychological Reports, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, and Journal of Hospitality Marketing Management.
