KARORI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY MARKET DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

In May 1999 members of the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute (NZTRI) met with Stephen Fuller of the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary (KWS). We discussed the possible involvement of the NZTRI in developing a program of research for KWS. In June 1999 a further meeting was held to discuss research time frames and to outline the role that the NZTRI could play in achieving two key aims for KWS:

  1. To gain greater insights into the profile of potential visitors to the KWS; and
  2. To provide a clearer picture of KWS’s potential role in the broader Wellington tourism product and urban economy.

The following report outlines the major findings of the research.
