2008 Pasifika Festival Research Programme

The 16th annual Pasifika Festival was held from 7-8 March 2008 at Western Springs in Auckland. The Festival is one of the largest community events in the South Pacific, and celebrates the art, culture and lifestyle of the Pacific Island communities of Auckland.

For the past five years Auckland City Council has run an Audience Survey at the Pasifika Festival. Following NZTRI’s survey of stallholders at the 2007 Pasifika Festival, Auckland City Council commissioned NZTRI to survey Audience and Stallholders at the 2008 Pasifika Festival.

The aims of this project are:
1) to get a clearer picture of the Festival Audience including satisfaction and expectations, reasons for attending, level of awareness and demographics;

2) to get a better understanding of Festival Stallholders including who they are, why they come and thoughts of satisfaction and improvements;

3) to develop a set of standardised web-based tools that will enable the cost effective gathering and analysis of information on the Pasifika Festival over time.

Data was collected using paper-based and online surveys at the Festival.
