Leading tourism nations are also access tourism leaders

The leading countries in terms of visitor arrivals are taking the issue of access tourism very seriously. Three guest articles written on http://www.accesstourismnz.org.nz by NZTRI students and interns show that France and Germany are very conscious of the importance of providing good access to people with disabilities, for ethical concerns but also for economic reasons.

Anna Huebner, in her article "How a German Town Improved Access – Including for Visitors - and Revitalised Itself", describes how the small town of Dahme has dramatically increased its visitor numbers after rethinking its tourism strategy. Pascal Languillon describes in his article "French Publication Encourages the Development of Access Tourism" how a report funded by the French government proves that people with disabilities are a good market for the tourism industry.  In "France, the leading access tourism destination?", Veroniek Maat further describes the actions undertaken by the French Ministry of Tourism to make sure access tourism becomes a high priority for the tourism industry.
